Robert was born 10-7-1858 New Harbor, Newfoundland. Parents are unknown. He prob. had a sister, Alice. Robert married Emma Snow (b. 10-23-1859 Bay Roberts, Newfoundland) and they lived in Bay Roberts until emigrating to the U.S. possibly in 1890.

The 1889 Voters List for Bay Roberts includes Robert and states that his father’s name is William.
