ANNOUNCEMENT:
I am pleased to announce the launch of the first ever Milley surname project using Y-DNA testing. After many years researching the various Milley family lines originating in Newfoundland I want to answer the ultimate question of where our earliest ancestors came from and break through the brick walls in our family history.
This project relies on testing of the male Y-chromosome (which is passed from father to son, usually with the father’s surname), so we are looking for male Milleys to have their Y-DNA tested. This type of DNA testing is different than the usual autosomal DNA testing and is only available through Family Tree DNA. Depending on your situation, this may involve arranging for a DNA sample to be collected from a husband, son, brother, father, uncle or other relative who carries Milley Y-DNA. Of course, if you are a male Milley then testing your own Y-DNA will do. The benefit of doing Y-DNA testing is that it can distinguish between different branches of a family which is what is needed to sort out who’s who in our ancestors from Conception Bay North.
If you are at all interested in furthering your Milley family research I ask for your support and encourage you to check out the project website with all the information here and please spread the word amongst the Milleys in your world.
Thank You,
Craig Milley, Administrator
