Hello. I’ve come to join you because I cannot unravel the mystery of my Paternal Grandmother, Ellen Dorothy May Daniels (nee Lovell). I have a Marriage record where her father, James Lovell is recorded to be England born and her mother Abigail Hoskings born in Conception Bay Nfld her parents are recorded as Joseph, a Sea-Captain and Mary J.

To compound this Ellen was adopted. I don’t know much more.

My amateur research skills have me stumped. Hoskins is a common Surname found in this region and yet I cannot find an Abigail born to a Joseph and Mary J. I’ve tried Hoskins with and without the ‘g’. I’m not sure of the J in Mary J either.
