I have made no progress in researching my great grandmother Mary Elizabeth Mullally since I began searching in 1994. She married James Squires in 1899 at the Basilica in St. John’s. She had one sister bc 1885 named Ellen (Nellie) who married Alf Morgan. There were no other siblings that my grandmother ever mentioned her mother having and no other siblings other than Ellen were mentioned in her obituary. She was a very holy Roman Catholic women and I am assuming she was born in St. John’s since I never heard she was from anywhere else although now I am starting to wonder. I believe she was born around 1873 from the age given at her death notice in 1960, although her marriage showed she was 20 at the time of marriage living her birth year 1879. I think she may have been older than her husband though and lied about her age here. It really has me thrown for a loop. I suspect that she may have had a relation named William since her first child was called William and I don’t see that name on the father’s side. I suspect there may have been a Michael or Kathleen in her family tree as well. Anyone who may have any advice to help me get past this 22 year road block would be most appreciated. I am really starting to consider hiring another researcher to try their luck with it since perhaps it just needs another set of eyes.
