William Cousins was my grandfather, I have now got records from the archives telling me that william was deported fro Nfld in 1930 after being convicted of selling illicit liquor from his confectioners shop in New Gower Street, St Johns. William was deported with his 3 youngest children and protested his innocence, the last correspondence was from a seamens mission in Liverpool England where he is described as destitute. Can anyone help with newspaper reports or anything else with my grandfather, or his family. My grandmothers name was Annie O’Toole, She died in 1926, she had one sister Bride who’s married name was Parsons, and a brother Edward (Mikey) O’Toole. As a result the 3 girls were destined to be raised in an orphanage, first in Belvedere in Nfld and later in UK.
