I am having trouble finding marriage records of my great grandfather, William Power, who came from Waterford County, Ireland and settled in St. Joseph’s, Salmonier, St. Mary’s Bay in the 1800’s. He was married to Honora Lundrigan. Records indicate that Honora gave birth to twins in 1845. A boy named Maurice and a girl named Margaret. Maurice was my grandfather. I would like to know if William and Honora were married in Ireland or in Newfoundland.
Hi UJSHIP1
Im not familiar with your lineage of Power. I myself am looking for info on a Catherine Power who married a William Howlett. Some of the Howlett family came from around the Goulds, Petty Harbour area, however, I cant seem to find any leads on Catherine Power Howlett, death, cemetary or otherwise. Do you or anyone else out there have any data? Thank You, Wango
Hi to UHSHIP1 and Wango
My grandfather Michael Murphy b 1894 had an Uncle Edward Power probably born about 1870. Don’t know what happened to him but have the names of his wife and his children. I have a Howlett in my tree as well a granddaughter of my grandmother Mary Sinnott’s brother married one.
Seeking Information on Peter Power of Southside, St. John’s. He was married to an Emma and they had several children: Joan, Shirley, Peter and John. Shirley married an Edward Pearce of St. John’s. She died in 1969 of cancer
Hi, looking for info on people from Southside Road, log onto facebook, there is a site called Southsiders, you should be able to get some answers there. I can remember seeing the name Power, and there might even be pictures. There are also Power’s from Shea Heights just above Southside Road. Good Luck Debbie
There is a Peter Power who resided on Shea Heights but he was originally from Cupids. He was a veteran of WW1 and there are records for his military history on the Rooms archives which gives some of his family history.
