I am looking for some information on my great-great-great grandmother, Ellen Carroll. She was born October 20, 1827 and died December 7, 1942 at age 115. She was of North River, Conception Bay.
Her father was Daniel/James Dwyer, and her mother was Ann(?) Roost(e)/Rooust. They were married June 9th, 1827 in Kells, Kilkenny.
I have a newspaper article with photo of her taken about 1935 with one of her daughters. The daughter’s last name was O’Brien. She was celebrating her 108th birthday in the photo. I can’t remember off hand what all was in the newpaper article.
Maurice CharetteI’m not sure if anyone will see this after so many years, but I am working on the Roust/Roost family of Newfoundland. My great grandmother was a roast who married a Sullivan in St. John’s in 1860. Regarding the original post about Ellen Dwyer Carroll, she was baptized in St. John’s 11 June 1828. Her parents were married in St. John’s as well, her father James Dwyer was indeed from county Kilkenny in Ireland, but her mother Anne Roust was from Renews in Newfoundland.
