This is the Web Site were you will find info on the Beal’s and O’Dell in Labrador. It’s an excellent resource but print out what you find as this site is old and sometimes difficult to access. I would be cautious downloading anything from this site now.

Not sure if this worked but I sent you documents that I found years ago. The Newfoundland Gen Web site is now only available via Internet Archive Wayback Machine, you may be able to access more info but I just get an error message, it was a great website, information that was gather by hand. It was Modeste that caught my attention, as I researched Jones’s of Bradore years ago. You will see that O’Dell is listed as residing in the Quebec/Labrador in the early 1800’s. Good Luck with your research.

The following were among the names that appeared in the records of Thomas Bird at English Point, Labrador in the early 1800s. The list appears at the Interpretive Center in the Lighthouse at Lanse Amore (originally L’Anse aux Morts) on the Labrador coast of the Strait of Belle Isle.

Bird Ledgers – Settlers on the Labrador Coast 1840
Settlers on the Labrador Coast in 1840, taken from Bird’s Ledgers of 1840. The Bird Ledgers are on microfilm in the National Archives of Canada in Ottawa. The originals I believe are in the PRO in London. Bird was a merchant in Labrador at Forteau in the 1840s. Actually the records run intermittantly from 1824-44. The reference is: MG40D Chancery 108 (Reels B1459-1461).
The information was transcribed by ELLEN TORNG ~ April 2001. While I have endeavored to be as correct as humanly possible, there could be some typographical errors. Griffin John Five Leagues

You need to join Ancestry genealogy site as there are 51 Family Trees listed for this family, I’m sure if you message several of the tree managers, they will be able to help. I believe you can join for a trail period for free. Please note that Douglas Parish, St. John River, York County is in the province of New Brunswick, Canada, it is not part of the province of Newfoundland, Canada. You will need to search New Brunswick genealogy sites and Australian genealogy sites for this family. Hope this helps.
